Over the past two decades, efforts to measure corruption have intensified to better understand this evolving phenomenon and assess the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives.

In 2023, UNODC launched the Statistical Framework to Measure Corruption, offering a menu of 145 indicators that cover criminal offenses, preventive measures, and the broader enabling environment for reporting and addressing corruption under the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The framework is currently being piloted in several countries to support its adaptation to national contexts.
